A stout perennial sedge with bright green, erect, hollow stems to 1.6m tall. Spherical flower heads, dark purplish-black and bristly. Thrives in still or slowly flowing water. Suits dam or pond edges.

Robust aquatic tufted perennial herb. Roots end in cylindric tubers. Leaves bend down to float with the current, more erect in still water. Yellow-green flower spikes stand well above the leaves in summer. Suits ponds and dams.

Small salt tolerant perennial succulent with green to red/purple upright, segmented stems. Thrives in a well-drained sandy and salty tidal location. Important food plant for migratory birds. Suits container growing. Green shoots are edible.
